Because a well-exercised dog makes less mischief, every dog should have his own exercise program. And like humans, they are prone to injury if they skip the warm up before exercise (yes this includes walks around the block!) and cool down afterwards. Sports medicine and holistic veterinarian Dr. Julie Mayer will offer guidelines on ideal exercise programs and demonstrate the proper stretching techniques before and after a work out, jog or even just a brisk walk. She’ll also discuss sports massage and acupressure and help you determine when an ice pack, heat therapy, elevation or a visit to the vet may be necessary and discuss how veterinary chiropractic and acupuncture can help keep dogs at the top of their game.
