Now offering massage therapy with Alison Brudney at our newest Hanover Park location!
What happens during a massage session?
A massage can last anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour depending on condition,
age, and size of dog. During the massage, a variety of techniques are used to
loosen up any tight muscles and treat any trigger points that are found. Trigger
points are tight, tender knots in the muscle that can spasm and limit movement
by causing sharp pain or a dull ache. Stretching is also an important part of
the massage to keep muscles loose and limber and prevent injury. The owners are
also shown some activities they can do at home.
About Allison:
Allison Brudney has enjoyed animals her entire life. Allison grew up on a small
family farm in Pennsylvania and later went on to graduate from The Pennsylvania
State University with a B.S. in Animal Science. Upon moving to the Chicago
area, Allison began volunteering with a local humane society and a breed rescue
group. In 2006, after running a doggie daycare for two years, Allison became a
Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) through the Association of Pet Dog Trainers
and formed her own company, Pointing the Way.
In August of 2008, Allison combined her background in science with her passion
to improve the quality of life of her own pets and became certified in Canine
Myotherapy through Midstates Myotherapy. As a myotherapist, Allison
incorporates canine massage, trigger point myotherapy and passive stretching to
improve circulation, movement and enhance overall well-being. Allison continues
to expand her knowledge by working for an animal chiropractor as well as
attending classes and seminars in animal health and body work.
