What qualifies someone to practice animal rehabilitation? Why do you
need to see a rehabilitation veterinarian? At Integrative Pet Care we
believe that quality rehabilitation and complementary care starts with
the proper training and certification of the veterinarians and their
assistants (Physical Therapists and Therapy Assistants).
According to the American Association of Rehabilitation Veterinarians (AARV): The PM&R (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation)
veterinarian is trained to evaluate the whole patient and not just
focus on the perceived injury or illness. The PM&R veterinarian has
the ability to perform in depth examinations, order diagnostic testing,
and prescribe appropriate therapy to address the many different
problems seen. Following evaluation the PM&R veterinarian can
perfect a treatment plan, monitor patient progress and adjust
therapeutic recommendations to achieve success. (www.rehabvets.org/infoforvets.lasso)
At
Integrative Pet Care our team of veterinarians are formally trained and
certified in canine rehabilitation, veterinary acupuncture and
veterinary chiropractic. This training has been completed through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute, University of Tennessee in Cooperation with Northeast Seminars, The Chi Instituteand The Healing Oasis.
Each of our animal rehabilitation therapists holds their certification
in canine rehabilitation either as a CCRT, CCRA or CCRP*. In addition
to their formal training and certification, members of your pet's
rehabilitation team continue to pursue in-house training as well as
continuing education opportunities.
